Accessing impCentral

Electric Imp’s online development and production tool, impCentral™, is available in two forms, one for each of the two impCloud™s we currently support:

Click either of the links above to go and log into the named impCloud (or select the entry from within the impCentral menu in the bar above).

impCentral operates in exactly the same way on both impClouds, but you should bear in mind that:

  • Accounts are bound to specific impClouds — if you have an AWS impCloud account, you cannot use it to log into the Azure impCloud, and vice versa.
    • If you have a certain username on one impCloud, that does not guarantee you will be able to use the same username if you create an account in the Azure impCloud, and vice versa.
  • Devices are bound to specific impClouds — if you have an Azure impCloud account, you cannot add to it devices that are intended for use with the AWS impCloud, and vice versa.
    • All development devices, such as breakout boards, sold by Electric Imp are listed by impCloud type.
    • Development devices sold by third-parties will typically be intended for use with the AWS impCloud only.
    • Owners of production devices do not need to know which impCloud their unit(s) connect to.
    • Attempting to enrol a device into the wrong impCloud will simply cause that enrolment to fail — it will not appear in impCentral, and will go back to flashing orange. Just re-enrol the device to the correct impCloud.
    • Devices cannot be converted over-the-air from one impCloud to another.

The AWS impCloud is the original ‘classic’ impCloud.
